Questions I have about Harry Potter(?)

  1. If the Defense Against the Dark Arts position has been cursed since Voldemort was denied the post, then that means that there have been several teachers that only lasted a year, not just the handful that we see in the seven-year slot of the series. If that is the case, then A) Why was Quirrell not introduced as the new DADA professor in Sorcerer’s Stone? B) Why is there a mention in GOF about how Snape has “missed out” on the DADA position for four years running? Wouldn’t it have been longer than that?
  2. Harry Potter’s parents were murdered on Halloween Night, 1981, because Harry was one year old. He was supposedly delivered to the Dursleys the next day (or the day after that), which we can deduce from the first chapter of Sorcerer’s Stone. October 31 1981 was a Saturday. It says that Mr. and Mrs. Dursley woke up on the “dull, gray Tuesday our story starts”. That’s more than a day.
  3. Why is it that some people Disapparate almost silently, or with a soft pop (Dumbledore, Barty Crouch Sr) but others Disapparate with loud cracks that sound like backfiring cars (Dobby, Mundungus Fletcher, Fred and George)?
